Yesterday, I did something I didn’t think I would do. I went to an AA meeting. I had sworn them … Continue Reading On Being Kind
My anxiety crushes into me every single day. I am not on a path to self-destruction, but I am constantly worried. I worry my skin, my hair, my partner. I pick and strip and wonder: is this how it will always be?
Someone asked me today what I do for my recovery every day. It got me thinking that I want to share a little glimpse into my every day with all of you.
This one time I was 18. I was headed to college in 3 months. I was still a virgin. My … Continue Reading This One Time
For the last three days I’ve been home alone.
My partner is at her Bachelorette and I took the weekend to stay home in Boston and take care of our dog. I’m 19 days sober today and haven’t had a sip of alcohol since Kit has left.
I wrote a nonfiction piece this morning and felt very uninspired to write a lengthier piece on here today, so these are some of the things I’m finding inspiration in and liking today. I hope you enjoy them too.
There is no book, no app, and no program that best represents who we feel we are. We are living inside the grey.

A few weeks ago, I was beginning to share gift guides on my fashion blog. When I switched back to this site, I still wanted to continue the holiday theme and include a gift guide for the sober person in your life.
Obviously my biggest gift this holiday season is being sober, but I did want to share a few items that I think the sober person in your life would enjoy.
There is a LOT of drinking and alcohol related gifts out there, so you want to make sure to gift something that is appropriate and doesn't trigger the receiver. It's also nice to give something they'll be sure to use as opposed to something that'll sit in their closet.
These are all items I've found helpful in my own recovery in some way or gifts that I've asked sober friends about.
I love using journals like these to write down milestones, insert creativity into my recovery, and have something tangible to look back on.
I drink so much more water when I'm sober. These water bottle is a really special gift because each sip is infused with Amethyst. It's a woo-woo gift, but I think it would be loved by any witch (or not) in your life.
I am a HUGE fan of anything Elena Brower. She's actually sober and one of the coolest, zenest humans. I've been counting down the days until this deck arrives. You can see her process of making the deck plus sneak-peeks of the cards on her Instagram.
Though I've never used one of these blankets personally I know tons of sober people in my network who swear by them.
I love planning and I love a good planner. Planning when in early sobriety, I think, is even more crucial. It's important to fill your days positively and with easy to-do tasks. Writing down what you've accomplished as well as what you need to makes everything a little bit easier. Though, I have been bullet journaling since July, this Passion Planner may be calling my name for January.
I ordered one of these sweet handmade cuffs yesterday and I can't wait to see the finished product. Sometimes it is important to have tangible mantras or words of wisdom that help remind you to stay on track and that you're taken care of no matter what.

I’ve used all of the below 10 things at certain points when I’m sober. Though they are all things I take partake in when I’m drinking, I do them with a lot more love and meaning when I’m clearheaded and sober.
I want the people I love to do not as I would or have done, but whatever will keep them safe. --Melissa Febos, Abandon Me
